Hola! How have you been? I am exhausted. These past two months I’ve been binge-watching Netflix. Once a while there comes this period in my life where I just become lazy as a sloth and just binge-watch. And I’ve been through that just recently and since that phase had passed I’m back here to share my Netflix watchlist.
At this point I’ve actually run out of movies to watch, the good ones obviously. It is super hard to filter Netflix and find the right movie/series. I know it so well. But you don’t have to because I’m going to share what I enjoyed watching and if it’s your kinda series, you can go for it.
Thank me later!
Netflix Watchlist
Okay, here comes the first one.
1. Betty en NY
I don’t know if it’s because of my interest in the language or what but I enjoyed watching Betty en NY. It’s full-on drama and it’s a really long series, a total of 123 episodes.
Storyline:
It’s about a Hispanic girl, Betty, who struggles working at a fashion company in New York City. And she finds love most unexpectedly.
2. Merlin
This is another series I so enjoyed watching. It is like a children’s story, full of dragons, magic, princes, and kingdoms. The things you must look forward to with Merlin is the friendship between a prince, Arthur, and a young sorcerer, Merlin. Their friendship is so heartwarming. Even after the end of the series, all the characters in Merlin stayed with me.
Storyline:
Merlin is a young country boy with powers no one has ever seen. He comes to the city of Camelot where magic is forbidden. And soon after he arrives in Camelot he discovers his destiny is tied up with someone he didn’t expect.
3. It’s okay not to be okay
A Korean drama. This is the only Korean drama I watched in months. At first, I felt “not bad” but the more I watched, the more I liked it. The things you should look forward to is Moon Sang-Tae’s (hero’s brother) character, who is autistic, and the bond between the brothers. The actor who played this character is brilliant.
And more than the beginning, I liked the story as it progressed and the climax is so nice.
Storyline:
Three characters; Moon sang-Tae, Moon Gang-Tae, and Ko Mun-Yeong. Each of them has gone through terrible experiences and how they help each other is the story.
4. Lucifer
I wouldn’t say it’s my top recommendation but it’s a nice one. The story is all about the hero, Lucifer. It completely revolves around him. And he is of course the highlight of this series. He played his character brilliantly. The story is a bit lacking at some points but overall it’s a good watch.
It has 5 seasons.
Storyline:
Lucifer, the devil, meets a detective who is immune to his charms, and obviously, the devil becomes curious to know the reason.
5. Mr. Iglesias
Pleasant, funny, and so every day. This series is nothing larger-than-life kinda story but something we watch to have a few laughs.
Storyline:
Gabe learns that some of his students are being transferred out of the school and to prevent that from happening he comes up with a plan.
6. One day at a time
Just like Mr. Iglesias, this is also a fun watch.
Storyline:
Penelope, a mother of two, struggles to stay on track in life after her divorce. She takes help from her mother.
And the events that happen in the series are fun and sometimes thought-provoking.
7. Asley Garcia
Just as the above two, this is also a comedy series. Whenever I watch something serious or heavy plotted, I immediately watch something lighthearted like this. It helps me relax.
Storyline:
Ashley Garcia is a brilliant girl with a Ph.D. She’s come to stay with her uncle Victor to pursue her dreams and to be a bit like a girl of her age.
8. Grand Hotel
Again, this is a Spanish series, of course, there will be subtitles. It is suspenseful and well-written. It has three seasons. I watched two of them and it’s really good. You will be engrossed in the story.
Storyline:
Julio comes to the “Grand Hotel” to meet with his sister who’s working as a waitress there. But when he arrives, he finds out that his sister is missing and possibly murdered. He joins the hotel as a waiter and tried to know what has happened to his sister.
9. Live twice, Love once
The next one on my Netflix watchlist is a movie, not a series. Live twice, Love once. This movie just broke my heart. I liked it. Usually, I don’t watch tragic stories but I don’t know why I watched it but I’m glad I did.
Storyline:
When Emilio is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he and his family try to reunite him with his childhood crush.
10. Cursed
And the final one is Cursed. Much hyped. This is the most uninteresting series on my Netflix watchlist here. I was bored. There are ten episodes and I stopped watching it in the 9th episode, and I am not even curious to know what happens next even until today.
It’s a bit related to Merlin’s story and I don’t even think they got that character right. They spoiled it. Anyway, it’s my opinion but if you want to give it a watch this is the story.
Storyline:
Scorned as a witch, a young woman named Nimue leaves her village. Then some disaster happens in her village which kills her mother. She breathes her last words to Nimue to meet someone, Merlin.
That’s all for today. Add these to your Netflix watchlist and have fun. If you are interested in documentaries, read one of my previous articles: Amazing Netflix Documentaries. I hope you liked our little chat here, if so, let me know in the comments.
Now I’ve seriously enough of Netflix, and I want to get back to reading. So I did. currently I’m reading one and I’ll see you soon with the review.
Chao!
Lots of LOVE,
Nikki.
