5 Work Principles that I follow

One who wants to build a bright and strong career must have just as strong work principles. Everything we think and do have a way of coming back to us. So, we better build our careers, or maybe life itself, on strong principles.

To have right intentions at heart is almost equivalent to literally choosing your path to success.

Set your intentions right, and you are almost half there.

1. Do more than what you receive

This is not something you’ve heard for the first time, I’m sure. I’ve heard it so many times that it has become a part of my work ethics without even realising.

Of course, there are also times where I want to slack off a bit but reminding myself of this gets me back on track.

2. Invest in yourself

Investment doesn’t necessarily have to mean money, it can also be your time and efforts. Join a course that helps your career or mental health, buy a book, write a diary, and so on. There are so many brilliant ways you can invest in yourself.

3. Utilise your right to de-stress yourself

Don’t think being in work mode all the time gets your good results. That is a huge misconception. Allow yourself to relax.

I always allot a part of the day for just myself. I’ll go for a walk, or read a book, or watch some Netflix. A space where I can just enjoy being myself.

Stop when you gotta stop. Recharge yourself and get started again. This is good for you and your career.

4. Appreciate yourself first before anyone else

You did something and you expect it to be recognised, there’s nothing wrong with that. But it’s a mistake when you don’t appreciate yourself.

So start saying things like “you did good job”, “you are amazing”, “Proud of what you have done” to yourself first before expecting from someone else.

5. Share what I learnt

We all want a mentor in life, who can teach and guide us. So when you think of having a mentor, start being a mentor to someone else.

It’s gets you where you want to be.

When older generation teaches right things to younger generation, everyone will have better opportunities and happiness. I believe in that.

This gets me to the end of this article. What are your work principles?

What do you believe in when it comes to work?

Share it in the comments so we all can learn. I’ll see you again!

Cheers,

Nikki.
