7 Christmas Movies To Bring You The Holiday Spirits

It is cold outside and the holidays are around the corner and all we want to do is forget about our work for a while and peacefully welcome the new year. It is finally the time to unwind by snuggling into our blankets and watching heartwarming movies.

If that is your Christmas plan, here’s a list of movies to make you feel good during this holiday season.

1. Home Alone

Every  Christmas is a laugh riot, all thanks to Kevin McCallister’s Home Alone.

If you don’t already know, the plot revolves around an 8-year-old boy who is accidentally left behind by his family on a trip to France. His house gets invaded by two dumb wit burglars and Kevin protects his house against them.

This movie is a two-hour-long laughing fest and definitely one of the most loved 90s Christmas classics.

2. The Holiday

Moving away from the children’s section, The Holiday is a rom-com set between a small village in England and Los Angeles. In the movie, two women tired of their lives look to exchange their houses for the holidays. They end up undergoing emotional revelations and finding the love of their lives.

This movie warms your heart, spreading hope that someone is out there for everyone.

3. A Very Harold And Kumar Christmas

If you don’t already know Harold and Kumar, you are missing out on life. The duo keeps getting into trouble and a series of chaos ensues.

The third of the series, this film revolves around Harold and Kumar and their adventures with a Christmas tree that Harold’s girlfriend’s father asks him to get. Perfect to gather all your loved ones for a movie night, the movie will leave you laughing and light-hearted.

4. A Naija Christmas

What screams the holidays better than a good old family drama?

This movie is brought straight from Nigeria. It is the first Nigerian Christmas movie to be ever shown on Netflix. The movie revolves around a distraught mother who wants her kids to settle down and give her grandchildren (relatable!). In exchange, she offers them a grand prize—her property.

A Naija Christmas is a rom-com that perfectly encapsulates the definition of the genre.

5. Grumpy Christmas

Almost like a modern inspiration of Scrooge, Don Servando has a new family to tolerate this holiday season. He joins his son and daughter-in-law for a beach Christmas along with some hippie communes. The patriarch (also the name of the first movie) feels challenged by Dona Alicia and the two are hell-bent on getting their way.

Moving away from the snowy, hot coco Christmas, this movie is awkward and humorous.

6. Love Actually

Directed in an anthology format, this movie follows eight London couples trying to navigate their relationships.

With its imperfect characters and its stories all dealing with different stages of a relationship, this movie has something to offer to everyone. The heartwarming cliches and the holiday spirits make this movie a must-watch during the holidays.

7. The Polar Express

A feel-good animated movie follows the adventure of a young boy on his journey to the North Pole. He climbs aboard a mysterious train where he meets many interesting characters and eventually meets Santa Claus.

The movie highlights the innocence of the boy and the special bond he shared with Santa Claus. Watching this movie, you will relive the miracles of Christmas we believed in as children.

Tell us your favourite Christmas movies!
