Hola, mi amigos! After months of lockdown, I stepped out of my home for the first time and in the sun. The mid-day Sun burned bright over my head. Although I would have preferred morning sun, more gentle and soothing. I’m someone who enjoys soaking in the sun. That warm feeling spreading all over my face makes me happy and refreshed. This is what I’m talking about when I say “instantly feel happiness.”
And you know what, sunlight helps us so much more than just happiness.
- Boosts our mood and happiness (by producing serotonin)
- Better sleep (by producing melatonin)
- Strengthens bones by improving vitamin D
- Healthy skin
- Improves eye health
- Balances blood pressure
Of all these things, I’m more interested in improving happiness levels. A lot of people would want to know that, too. This lockdown has sort of forced us to stay cooped up at home, and many are struggling with mental health issues during this time. Some are depressed, some are stressed, and some are just bored.
While were all locked up for the past couple of months, surely many felt suffocated. But not me. It’s always been work from home for me so I did not see much of a difference. I rarely went even into our balcony. But today when the warmth of the sun hit me I felt so good and free. Like a void has been filled. Imagine how it would feel for someone who is always on the run.
So those who says I feel low, for no reason or for some reason, try to soak in the sun for a bit and I promise you it will surely escalate your happiness levels.
Coming back to how my day was, I did not go any further than the end of our street. But it was a nice little trip to our nearest convenience store. My dad and I went for a little walk to the end of our street and bought a few supplies we want at home. And on our way back home, we found a couple of spots for our next photoshoot.
Then we came home to a hearty home-cooked meal. Thanks to my mom we had delicious food to satisfy our greedy junk food habituated tummies during this lockdown.
This was our Sunday special. Just another day but as we say, every day has the potential to make you happy. Someone said right, it’s always the little things that make a difference.
And this was my Sunday outfit.
Nothing much but a comfy, summer outfit.
Kalamkari long skirt with a white cotton top. Matching accessories. You could imagine how being all dressed up must have felt after months of lockdown in my PJs and messy hair.
Anyway, here are a couple of pictures from today.
And that’s it for today. Any bad day? Just doll up and go out for a walk under the sun, you will instantly feel a lot better. Not just saying, I know it. And I want you to know it too.
This is one of the things that makes me happy so I’m sharing here with you all in hope that you might find it helpful during your stressful times.
I’ll see you soon again.
Stay happy & be healthy.
Adios!
Until next time,
Lots of LOVE,
Nikki.
