Styling a Banarasi Saree for Navratri Day 3

Hola! It’s Navratri day 3 and I’m here with another gorgeous saree in Navratri series. Thanks to my mom, I’m wearing sarees to my heart’s content this festival. Frankly, I can never get enough of it. Anyway, before anything, let’s see what this day stands for in Navratri. Today’s avatar is Ma Chandraghanta, another one of the nine forms of Ma Durga. So, the story behind this is…

In her birth as Parvati, daughter of Himalayas, after her austere meditation to marry Shiva, the lord accepts her hand in marriage. But when he arrives at the court of King Himavat, Lord Shiva appears in his most terrifying form leaving everybody in a state of shock. Seeing this, ma Parvati wants to save both Shiva and his family from awkwardness and turns herself into a form that matches Shiva’s appearance. She looks completely different from her usual self with several arms wielding weapons. Whilst being wielded with weapons, one hand always blesses with kindness. This signifies that ma Chandraghanta can be terrifying towards her enemies and kind towards her devotees at the same time.

She wears a half-moon on her forehead, hence the name Chandraghanta. As Ma Chandraghanta, she convinces Shiva to turn into a prince. Thus Shiva leaves his terrifying form and turns into a prince. Then, Lord Shiva and Ma Parvati get married in a beautiful ceremony.

That’s today’s story.

Navratri Day 3 Look

Today I wore this beautiful pink Banarasi saree. It’s a bit heavy but totally worth bearing the weight. Remember, I wore a Banarasi saree before too, on my birthday. I’ve loved it ever since. The material is shiny and drapes perfectly around your body. I’ve matched a contrast blouse for this one.

Also, check out yesterday’s outfit, Navratri day 2.

Accessorize it according to your taste and preference. I love wearing bangles, so I added that detail. It is all about details.

I rarely wear my hair with Mid-partition but I think I like it. What do you think? Yay or Nay?

Not a clutch but a sling bag. A sling bag on a saree gives a lot different vibe and you are going to dig that.

Nothing much to specify about the makeup. It’s the usual. I wanted to achieve a soft pink makeup, so this is an all-pink makeup look. I wanted a matte look, so I did not use any highlighter either. Pink eyeshadow + Pink lipstick + Blush.
